Known Unknown & Unknowable

The Census of Marine Life is a 10 year scientific initiative ending in 2010 that aims to record and map all the species that inhabit the oceans and seas. The diversity, distribution, and abundance of these species play an important role in what is known, unknown, and may never be known about what lives in our marine environments.
The book consists of a series of six illustrations based on the six 'realms' of the oceans; the Human Edges, Light and Dark Central Waters, Microscopic, Active geology, Ice Oceans, and Hidden Boundaries. By using the main obstacles that face exploration of each realm, a key was created that leads the viewer to the corresponding text.

10 pages, printed onto one sheet of thick natural tracing paper and folded. Stitch bound by hand into an outer cover.
